Analysis Of Cultural Landscape Essay Cultural landscapes fall into three main categories. The most easily identifiable is the clearly defined landscape designed and created intentionally by man. The second category is the organically evolved landscape. The final category is the associative cultural landscape. Here the analysis is on Metropolis at Metrotown, which comes under the former category. Metropolis at Metrotown is a giant mall located in Burnaby, the third largest city in British Columbia by population, geographically sits in-between Vancouver and Port Coquitlam. The city is located just outside of downtown Vancouver and has evolved from a bedroom community to an urban centre and has lots to offer, from unique shopping areas, theatre productions, sports events and many more. The city has a mix of different religions and cultures. The ethnic identity is clearly visible in the city, northern parts of Hastings Street being well catered to Italian population, and south, Metrotown area with the mix of origins from China, South Korea and Yugoslavia. The time when SkyTrain, an automated train with advanced rapid transit technology, was constructed in the middle of 1980s, the dramatic development has started across the lengths and breadths of Burnaby, especially along Kingsway. This lead to the establishment of Metrotown Center in 1986, and consequently the residential areas around the commercial complex stood up in no time. Formerly the Shopping Mall was called as Metrotown Eaton Centre. But when Eaton was shutdown removing its stake, the Metropolis combined with Metrotown to form a single entity. Today this mega mall is the second largest in Canada. Today the expansion of the mega mall plays a major factor in the generation of economy and revenue from foreign exchange. The mall boasts the standard of living of the population in the city by giving employment. Job opportunities in the retail sector are expected to increase with about 97,000 new positions becoming available by 2011. Opportunities for retail sales associates, supervisors, and managers are expected to grow over the next eight years. The policy of recruitment is compliant with Human Rights Code, and prohibits discrimination in employment due to race, national or ethnic origin, citizenship, religion, age, sex, marital status, disability, language or record of offences. This mall plays a major role as one of the attractions of tourism. The mall offers attractive tourism programs like out-of-Town visitors, Group Travel Program, Meeting Planners and Sports Organizers, Hotel Shopping Packages. With the evolution of cross culture from different walks of the people, the globalization gave the speed to the spread of multi-national products in the city that never seen before. And these lead many more markets to see the light of the sun. This giant hall has around 220 shops, three department stores, multiplex theatres, restaurants, business offices, library, dental clinic, banks, cafes, spas and many more. The raise of public transportation in the form of Buses and SkyTrain emerged for the giant mall’s accessibility. And these add to the income generation from the parking and gas consumption. With the success of retail market, Government is benefiting in the form of Tax on the services and products. This giant mall is now touching the people from various walks of life. From the sales representatives to the market analysts , software engineers to librarians , cosmeticians to dentists, fashion designers to art suppliers, customer care executives , and the list goes on. If some people come to spend time in leisure, others come for partying. Round the clock this mall entertains the public with attractive events. Some of the annual events which include Clearance sales, Job fairs make the place the hot spot in the city. And the calendar always offers some new events to celebrate for the public like Fashion Shows, Music Awards, Contests and the list goes on. The mall is equipped with all necessary services to provide the public with the best shopping experience. The range of services include strollers, baby care in the food court, a nursing room, family washroom equipped with a baby change station and a Jellybean Park Play care. For giving the accessibility to all age groups, the mall provides wheelchairs on loan with free of cost. And sophisticated facilities are provided to the public to make their shopping enjoyable. Automated doors are located at most of the major entrances which includes Kingsway entrance, Real Canadian Superstore, Central Boulevard to name a few. It is also equipped with Passenger elevators. And modern, comfortable, and clean washrooms are available and they are also wheelchair accessible. Metrotown Food court caters tasteful food to public from various cultures and geographies. Teaching the Future Today School is often not enjoyable as one grows up and sometimes it is even dreaded. So many children will make any excuse in the world not to attend school. Students will begin to skip school and inevitably, they will drop out of school if they are able to. I, however, loved going to school. I remember while growing up school was always something I looked forward to everyday. Throughout my school years, I participated in everything I was able to when it came to school activities. Though, towards the end I was getting excited about graduation and all of the senior events, I was also saddened because I did not want these days to end. Many people often wondered why it was that I had such a love for school. I even wondered at times what it was that made me feel so compelled to go to school. I was not the most popular person in school, though I had many great friends. I kept my grades up the best I could but I was never the most academic student in school. There was sti ll something that made my school days the best memories of my life. Teachers, my teachers were what made my days flow by happily as they helped me grow educational and morally. Teachers are sometimes the only thing that makes school fun and enjoyable. School is obviously about education and learning and meant to teach one the basics of education, allowing them to grow mentally. There is however such a thin line between educational and moral growth. To teach one without the other uprooting is nearly impossible. Growing up I was so luck to have been taught by the finest teachers out there and I can honestly say that I never had a teacher in school that made me feel uncomfortable or inadequate. Learning was fun to me and that is mostly thanks to my upbringing and having wonderful educators. I have been taught as a student in many different states such as Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and West Virginia and in these states I have always been blessed with fine educators.

This new system has solved a lot of financial constrains faced the business and commerce in Somalia and started improving transactions and cash security in the country.Sahal service which is the mobile money transfer offered by golis telecommunication company has been launched in 2009 in all over puntland. This includes the major cities in puntland such as bosaso, garowe and galkacyo. The service which is owned and offered by golis Telecommunication Company, the largest telecom company in the region, with more than 15000 active subscribers (2015) has been easily accepted by the community which highly suffered the malfunction of monetary system in the country.Sahal service in puntland offer the community to the following services:Money transfer. Merchant number offered by golis telecom has helped businesses to run their business with or without cash transactions. Taaj remittance belongs to HTG and it is supported by all the mobile banking systems of these companies viz SAHAL, ZAAD and EVCPLUS services.Taaj Remittance Company has been introduced in the Somali market in the year 2012, and has gained a large market share immediately, compelling the competitor companies with large market share to enter into the telecommunications company. The gaint Somali remittance companies', dahalshiil group and amal bank both entered the telecom company by forming SOMTEL and AMTEL companies respectively.The main aim of creating SOMTEL and AMTEL by dahabshiil and amal companies is the risk they faced from such technology as taaj company with the help of mobile banking systems such sahal service.Somtel has been largely launched Somalia at large and has come with their mobile banking system named E-DAHAB.AMTEL Company has been launched in the year 2017 and it is still in its initial start up phases. Since the collapse of Somali government in 1991, Somali community has largely become immigrant in almost all over the world. The banking system of the country collapsed and the transfer of money from abroad to the country become difficult and that time Somali remittance companies has emerged and take their role in transferring money between communities abroad and Somalis in Somalia. On pg. 61, this pride begins to work against him. Kreons faults and decisions have caused him guilt. As you read the work, you notice that everything pertaining to the plot revolves around his sense of pride. Antigones role is used to emphasize Kreonrs pride. Antigone is not the tragic heroine, and she suffers from Kreons actions. When Antigone is caught burying Polyneices, Kreon uses her fault to build his own sense of pride: With that I have everything. (l. 606) Kreon believes that, as a leader, being wrong is a disgrace. Teiresias tells Kreon: Stubbornness is stupidity. It is criminal. (l. 1185) The state is sick. (l. 1170) Kreon feels that Teiresias is in no position to be giving a leader advice. Kreon believes his actions are already fair and just. Teiresias words to Kreon seem to matter little to him. Throughout the story, Kreons emotions change. This makes him a dynamic character. For most of the story, Kreon is stubborn and shows little sympathy or care for any of the characters. Kreon expresses anger in the beginning when he realizes that people are going behind his back. As the story continues, Teiresias comes to predict the future for Kreon. Although Kreon avoids Teiresias words at first, Koryphaios agrees with Teiresias, which causes Kreon to doubt himself. Kreon says: What should I do? Tell me. I promise to comply. (l. 1275). When Koryphaios tells Kreon to let Antigone out of the tomb, Kreon replies: Thats your advice? To give in? (l. 1278). Kreon is confused, because he hasnt taken into account other peoples perspectives. It is at this point that Kreon begins to acknowledge his flaw. When the Messenger returns with the information that Antigone, Haimon, and Eurydice are dead, Kreon truly realizes what he has done: I am grief (l. 1503). Kreons emotions change dramatically at this point, and his eyes are opened to his new reality. In conclusion, Kreons forceful and close-minded leadership, his pride, and his complex nature, make him the tragic hero. Looking back on the text, you realize that too much pride is always punished, despite the characterrs status or power ranking. Kreon does not come into his position with too much pride, but he gains it as the events in the story unfold. Although he does not die, the loss of family and everything he had is something that Kreon will never be able to erase: Hurry, take me out of the way. Im nobody. Im nothing (l. 1511) Kreon will carry the guilt from his actions on his shoulders forever, causing him to step down in power. Kreon feels that he is no longer fit for ruling because of his mistakes that cannot be taken back. This shows that Kreon has weaknesses that cause him to be a tragic hero.
